About Us
The Greater Seattle Viet Nam Association was incorporated as the Puget Sound Vietnam Association in August of 1993. Reflecting the larger international recognition of Seattle, the organization changed to its current name in 1995. GSVA was formed by individuals who had participated in a series on Vietnam and reconciliation opportunities hosted by the local CARE chapter who were interested in forming people-to-people connections between the Seattle area and Vietnam to improve relations post war.
Over the years, GSVA has launched humanitarian projects, cultural and business exchanges, sponsored Vietnam-focused local events and founded the Seattle – Hai Phong Sister City Association in 1996. We remain active in sponsoring projects in Hai Phong and throughout Vietnam. We also sponsor the Seattle International Film Festival and bring other arts and performances to Seattle.
GSVA is a federally registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempted organization.
